Life and career. McGhee was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee. At about the age of four he contracted polio, which incapacitated his right leg. His brother Granville "Sticks"(or "Stick") McGhee, who also later became a musician and composed the famous song "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-o-Dee," was nicknamed for pushing young Brownie around in a cart.

If you need to have one Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee album in your collection this is the one. Bought this in the seventies and wore it out. This is a great sample of their work. Sonny Terry is an amazing Harmonica player and Brownie McGhee's solid guitar playing and vocals anchors the work. I you like this genre of music you should love this/5(62).
